Perennial Flower ~ Sun to Part Shade ~ 10" ~ late spring to midsummer ~ smoky purple buds with cream flowers ~ deep purplish-black, shiny leaves ~ deep purple undersides to leaves ~ likes dry shade, but also does well in moist areas ~ a deer resistant native ~ often evergreen ~ drought tolerant

Optimal Care:
Remove spent flowers. If foliage fades or dries out in late summer or early fall, cut off old growth.  Do not prune for winter.  Cut off any dead leaves in spring.
